Brother Victorian Raymond Florkowski, C.S.C. (1908-1973)

oil on canvas

A teacher for 43 years, Brother Victorian’s creative aptitude was more often spent on illustrations in school publications or stage curtain-sized paintings for school plays rather than studio paintings. However, he particularly enjoyed awe-inspiring nature sites and painting landscapes. “He saw not just earth and plants, but a metaphor for divinity in the handiwork of God,” wrote Brothers. Meichtry and Doran, C.S.C.
