A globe-trotting Brother and teacher, Brother Donard taught in New Orleans, Liberia, Chicago, Rome, Cleveland, Akron, and Austin over the course of his lifetime. For over 20 years, St. Edward’s University received the benefit of his water safety, swimming, and Red Cross courses in the Physical Education Department. In fact, Brother Donard was still teaching swimming to undergraduates and disabled students at age 95! About his swimming classes, he remarked, “The student that has problems has always had my special interest because in my own life, I have always been a student with problems.” This photograph of the Hill Country reflected his longtime passions for the outdoors and photography.
