Knowledge, love, and service:

The Art of The Brothers of Holy Cross

ILLUMINATING THE BROTHERS' COMMITMENT

This exhibition celebrates the art of the Holy Cross Brothers and their vibrant presence on the St. Edward’s University campus.

Founder Blessed Basil Moreau charged the Congregation of Holy Cross with the mission to “prepare for better times,” working with “zeal to make God known, loved, and served, and thus save souls.” As men with hope to bring, the Brothers of Holy Cross have made God known, loved, and served through a variety of ministries, including the richly evocative and thoughtful art they have shared.

Graced by gifts from God, the Brothers’ works became gifts to the St. Edward’s community. Spanning over fifty years and a variety of media and styles, these selected works make the invisible God visible. Their artistic visions express a devotion to the cross of Christ, charitable service to neighbors, and the love of the St. Edward’s community.
