Brother Stephen Daniel Carter, C.S.C. (1922-2010)

Brother Stephen worked as maintenance director and grounds superintendent at St. Edward’s University for 14 years while taking evening classes and earning his BA in history. During this time, staff and students could easily recognize him across campus thanks to his weathered sombrero and constant companion, a German Shepherd named Sam. Upon retiring and moving back to Austin and the Brother Vincent Pieau Residence, he was able to devote more time to producing his soothing watercolors.
