Jesus mainly lived and grew up in an area called Galilee and lots of the cities and towns that Jesus visited in the Gospels still exist today in modern day Israel. Gentile was a Jewish term used to describe anyone who was not Jewish. Jewish custom suggested they should live separately from other nations because gentiles did not live or worship as they did. Jews will not eat the same food, wear the same clothes or even have the same hair style as the others

At the time That Jesus lived (0-33AD) the Romans had invaded and were in control of palestine. Roman governors were in charge of various areas such as Judea and Samaria and part of their job was to make sure the Jewish people paid Roman taxes and obeyed the Roman laws that were in place.
