Despite all of the troubles in the world, it is still a truly wonderful creation. Catholics want to praise the God who brought the world into existence and give thanks for entrusting it to them.They also give thanks for the goodness that comes from the world and from God's care. Prayer is the way in whihc people communicate with God

The catholic church defines prayer as 'the raising of our hearts and minds to God' (CCC2559). This quote, originally from St John of Dmascus, means that prayer should be humble and come from the deepest part of a person. So , when many Catholics pray, they try to focus completely on God, with their heart and with their mind. Many Catholics beleive that prayer is a gift that comes from God, that thye receive when they turn to God. The Catholic Church also teaches that prayer is a cleevration of faith that helps Christians to follow Jesus, helped by the Holy Spirit and as worship to God the Father. Prayer is a personal connection to God that CAtholics beleive is essential to life
