The Colorado State Conservation Board and staff are introducing a Continuity of Operations template for use in each Conservation District. The Federal Government shutdown last fall caught many of us off guard, and many of us found ourselves without an office in which to do business and carry on normal Conservation District functions and operations. In our discussion of this event and the possibility that other incidents could cause the same interruption in operation, such as fires, or natural disasters, we are providing this template (below) as a guideline and operating tool for your use.
This tool will provide some guidance in the discussions and decisions that need to be made to plan ahead for an interruption of operations. It also includes a checklist to work through in your Conservation District to document decisions that are made in planning for interim operations, should something happen that prevents the Conservation District from normal operation.
We hope that your Conservation District will review this soon in a board meeting and create a continuity of operations plan that will be specific to your needs. We encourage you to review your plan at least annually as conditions change.
