Since we have entered the sacred season of Advent, we are invited once again into a time of hopeful waiting and joyful anticipation. Advent is a season marked not by haste, but by quiet preparation. A chance for us to pause from the business of school, family life, and the approaching holidays to reflect on the great gift of Christ’s coming.
In our classrooms, students will be learning about the symbols and traditions of Advent: the growing light of the Advent wreath, the colors of hope and penance, and the call to prepare our hearts through prayer, kindness, and acts of service. These simple things help us remember that Advent is not only about looking forward to Christmas, but also about becoming more attentive to God’s presence in our daily lives.
As a Catholic school, students, staff, and families are blessed to journey together in this season of hope. Let us use these weeks to deepen our faith, nurture compassion, and encourage our students to shine Christ’s light through their words and actions.
May this Advent bring peace to your homes, joy to your hearts, and renewal to our entire school community.

Generosity means giving freely from the heart—our time, our kindness, our prayers, and our blessings. Like St. Nicholas, we are called to notice those who need help and to give joyfully, without expecting anything in return. This Advent season, may we look for small, simple ways to bring hope to others.

The PTO Student Appreciation Committee is ready for the holidays, and we can’t wait to celebrate our students! Get ready to groove into the holiday season with our Silent Disco & Christmas Cheer event during recess on December 10th! Students will dance to their favorite tunes through wireless headphones in a festive silent disco experience. To add to the holiday fun, each student will receive a scratch-off card for a chance to win a special prize, with winners in every grade. It's the perfect way to celebrate the season with music, dancing, and a little extra holiday magic!
Santa’s Secret Shop returns Dec. 2-5, giving kids the chance to choose their own Christmas gifts for family and friends. Gifts range from $1–$15. Envelopes will be coming home with students along with more instructions, so be on the lookout for those! Students will be able to shop during the school day, but the shop will stay open late on 12/2, 12/3 and 12/4.
Parent and grandparent volunteers are welcome to sign up to help our shoppers! A SignUpGenius link will be available in the coming days.

Need ideas on what to gift your favorite St. Albert teachers and staff for Christmas? The PTO has you covered. We are collecting money that will be divided out among our outstanding teachers and school staff for the holidays.
Instead of receiving small gifts, each teacher and the school staff will receive a substantial monetary gift that they can spend as they please. They really enjoy receiving these monetary gifts during Christmastime.

Exciting News! New Uniform Return Drop Box Available at the back of the gym near the playground. This is a new process for SAAM and the current return window is through 12/12.
Spring Sports Registration Opens Dec 12 for:
• New! 1–2 Boys Volleyball (closes Jan 5)
• 3–8 Boys Volleyball, Track, Softball, JK–2 Soccer, 3–8 Soccer, Baseball, Tennis (closes Jan 21)
Field hockey and golf registration will occur at later dates.
Planning ahead | Cheerleading registration for the 2026-2027 school year will open in March.
Tennis signups for 1st-8th grade will open Dec 12 and close Jan 21. Practices will be on Thursdays in Feb and Mar from 3:30-4:30, starting Feb 5th at Louisville Indoor Racquet Club (Westport Road). Match play is generally for 4th grade and up for kids who can serve and keep score (with a little help is ok). Verification for kids who are interested in playing matches is on January 29 at 3:30. Matches are on Saturdays in Feb and Mar, and the individual tournament is Mar 29. CSAA tennis championships are Jun 8-9 (10 with rain delay).

Focus on Skill Development
This year, SAAM is shifting the focus from competition to student-athlete development. Instead of concentrating mainly on games, we’ll spend more time teaching the fundamentals—dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork, and understanding the game.
Program Details
Schedule: The program will run for 4 weeks: January 11, 18, 25, and February 1
Teams: Student athletes will be placed on teams and work together throughout the season. Sign Ups: Open in GameDay through November 30th
Clinics: During the first three weekends, each team will attend one 45-minute clinic focused on basketball fundamentals.
Clinic times will be 12:30–1:15 p.m. or 1:15–2:00 p.m.
Once teams are created, we’ll share your child’s assigned time.
No team will practice during both sessions on the same weekend.
Game Day: On the final week (February 1), we’ll host games to let student athletes show off what they’ve learned!
Game times will be 12:30–1:00, 1:00–1:30, or 1:30–2:00 p.m., with each team playing one game.
Expert Coaching
Our clinics will be led by Alex Cook, a former four-year standout at Bellarmine University and member of Bellarmine’s U-Knighted TBT team. Alex was named First Team All-Midwest Region by the NABC and Second Team by D2CCA, as well as First Team All-GLVC and a GLVC All-Defensive Team selection. He was also recognized on the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, honoring the nation’s top small-college basketball players.
In addition to his playing accomplishments, Alex is the Co-Founder of B Elite Basketball Camps, where he helps develop young athletes’ skills and love for the game. He currently serves as Regional Manager at Superior Van and Mobility, bringing strong leadership and mentorship to everything he does.

Our main field is getting some much-needed TLC this season! SAAM is hard at work on field improvements, including overseeding and filling in worn spots, to make sure the field is in top shape for Spring.
To help the new grass grow strong, we kindly ask everyone to stay off the field through the winter months. Giving the seed time to take root now means a safer, greener space for all come springtime.

School Board meetings are open to school parents and parish members. The board meets every other month from September through May. The meetings are generally held on the second Monday of the month in Hendricks Hall Basement from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (dates falling on holidays are the following week).

Prayer Chain – Add your intentions for anyone who needs to be lifted in prayer.
Anointing of the Sick – A beautiful sacrament administered by Fr. Chris or Fr. Schultz for those facing serious illness or advanced age.
Helping Hands – Anonymous support with meals and help for school families in times of need.
SOS Ministry – Short-term help with meals, rides, yardwork, or seasonal needs to those in need.
Elizabeth Ministry – Meals for families welcoming a new baby.
Prayer Blankets & Cards – Take a blessed blanket or card to remind someone that they are being prayed for.
Student Service Opportunities at Nursing Homes – We minister to five different nursing homes and are able to help connect students with service projects.
