Please remember to report all student absences to both the homeroom teacher and the school office by 9:00 a.m. Since Amy Baker is no longer in the office, please email Courtney Humston at chumston@stalbert.org along with the homeroom teacher. You’re also welcome to call the front office to report an absence.
Changes to student transportation in the afternoon should be emailed to both the homeroom teacher and the school office by 2:00 p.m. Changes made after 2 p.m. should be made with a phone call to the office to ensure the homeroom teacher is notified. Thanks for your assistance.
St. Albert the Great School Safety
In light of the recent shootings in Minneapolis, we want to reassure our St. Albert family that our safety remains our top priority. While we may not be able to share every detail of our security measures, we want you to know that we have strong systems and policies in place to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.
We are pleased to share the following:
30 video cameras on campus with Alarm One
Visitors must ring a bell and state their reason for entering to get access to the parish or school office
Exterior doors are locked
Classroom and church doors are locked
Exterior Doors of importance (as advised by the security team) in the school and church are covered with bullet-resistant film, including the glass on classroom doors
We have an active safety committee that meets every other month and is continually looking for ways to improve the safety on our campus
We are committed to maintaining a secure and welcoming space. If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our Administrative Team Members.
A Message from Administration
Dear St. Albert families,
It was great seeing so many families at our Parent Orientation night last week! As we finish up our 3rd week of school, I hope your families have settled into a good, balanced routine of homework time, family time, and extracurricular activity time.
Throughout the next month, all St. Albert students will be taking Fall MAP tests- Measures of Academic Progress. We give MAP tests 3 times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring) to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year and from year to year in the areas of Math, Reading, and Language Usage.
MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to be appropriate for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. Since MAP tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it is easy for teachers to identify skills that students would benefit from, and plan instruction accordingly. Teachers will share your student’s results with you during your Parent-Teacher conference in October.
Teachers spend time preparing students at school to take the MAP test, and there are things you can do at home as well! Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast that will keep them sustained throughout the test. Leave plenty of time in the morning so that your child is not feeling rushed and stressed out before they get to school. It is also important to be on time for school, especially on testing days. If a student is late and their class has already begun testing- they will be asked to stay in the office until the class is finished. Students may bring a healthy snack to have on mornings they are MAP testing, along with their water bottles.
Thank you for all you do to prepare your student(s) for school every day!

Learning Coordinator, JK-4
SCHOOL NEWS
Test of Emergency Alert- TOMORROW
We will test the Parent Alert capabilities of FACTS SIS on Friday, August 29. Each parent and guardian will receive a text alert, a voice call alert, and an email message. The test alert will be sent between 8 - 9 AM on Friday.
* The FACTS Parent Alert system will only be used to send important information about unplanned school closures, delayed start times, or emergencies. It will not be used to distribute the link for the Viking Voice, new about fundraising events, or early dismissal reminders. Please do not click "STOP" on the text alert or unsubscribe from the email message as this will prevent you from receiving alerts in the case of an actual emergency.
* All text alerts will come from 31706.
* The "from" address for email alerts is noreply@pikmykid.com. This is a true "no reply" email; replies are not monitored. Please check your spam folder if you cannot locate the test e-mail message.
If you are a parent or guardian of a student and do not receive the test alert message, please login to the Family Portal and use the WebForms section to update your contact information. You can learn how to do that at the Family Tech Support Site.

⛪ Viking's Saints and Virtues Program Continues ⛪
We are excited to continue our Saints and Virtues lessons this year, supporting both our Catholic faith and our students’ social and emotional development. Each month, we will focus on one saint and a virtue that they exemplified in their life.
Classroom teachers will introduce the saint, sharing their life story, accomplishments, and the path to sainthood. They will also teach students about the virtue the saint lived. Following this, our school counselors will visit each classroom once a month to explore how students can live out this virtue in their daily lives—at home, in school, and in the community.
Students who demonstrate the monthly virtue in the classroom, hallways, or playground will be recognized with our Viking Virtue Award, presented on the last Thursday of each month after our school mass.
Our first saint of the year is Saint Teresa of Calcutta, known around the world for her tireless work serving the poorest of the poor. She devoted her life to caring for the sick, the orphaned, and the dying, founding the Missionaries of Charity to continue this mission of love. Her life perfectly reflected our first virtue: Kindness—treating every person with compassion, respect, and love, no matter their circumstances.
Together, let’s follow her example and bring kindness into every part of our school community. Click here to view the Saint and Virtue for each month.
