Winter Break- Wednesday, February 11th through Monday, February 16th. School resumes on Tuesday, February 17th.
Absences/Dismissal Changes- Remember to include chumston@stalbert.org on emails sent to homeroom teachers involving school absences, tardies, and transportation changes.
It was wonderful to have our halls full of St. Albert families on Monday and Tuesday evening for our last parent-student-teacher conference of the year!
After conferences, it’s important to continue the conversation at home in a way that feels supportive and encouraging. Begin by asking open-ended questions about how your student felt the meeting went and what stood out to them. Listening first helps your child feel heard and shows that the conference was a collaborative discussion rather than something happening to them.
Focus on both strengths and areas for growth. Celebrate the positives that were shared, whether they relate to academic progress, effort, or personal qualities. When discussing challenges, keep the tone constructive and forward-looking. Frame feedback as opportunities to learn and improve, and remind your student that growth takes time and practice.
Finally, talk through next steps together. Review any goals that were discussed and help your student identify specific actions they can take to work toward them. Keep expectations realistic and emphasize that teachers and families are partners in supporting their success. Ending the conversation with encouragement and confidence reinforces the message that the conference was about helping your child thrive, not about judgment.
Enjoy your time off for our Winter Break!

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4–7
In February, our school community will focus on the virtue of Love—a love that is patient, kind, forgiving, and selfless. Inspired by St. Valentine, we are reminded that love is more than a feeling; it is a daily choice shown through our words and actions. As St. Paul teaches us, “Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” This month, we encourage our students and families to practice Christ-like love at home, at school, and in our community.
Family Prayer for February
Loving God,
Thank You for the gift of love. Help our family to be patient and kind with one another, to forgive as You forgive, and to show love through our actions each day. Through the example of St. Valentine, teach us to love generously and faithfully. May our words and choices reflect Your love in all we do.
Amen.
This Lent, our school community will participate in Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowl, a Lenten program that invites us to pray, fast, and give in solidarity with those in need around the world. Through simple acts of sacrifice and generosity, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Rice Bowls will be sent home in Tuesday folders next week, and we encourage all families to prayerfully join us in this effort as we live out the call to love our neighbors and serve the most vulnerable during this holy season.
