Please read and be aware of the following Archdiocesan policy regarding social media:

Social Media for Parents of Children 12 and Under

Any posts made by parents or other adults regarding the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Schools, or an individual school, should reflect a spirit of community and collaboration and be consistent with the values of the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Schools and the individual school. Parents should contact the teacher, principal, or other school personnel at the point of contact to discuss any problems that exist or persist. Negative comments by parents made on social media directed at the school, school personnel, parish personnel, or members of other school communities are deemed inappropriate and may result in a student being asked to leave the school if the parent persists.

Social Media for Parents of Children 13 and Over

Eight rules of engagement for social media use (Garrido2) call adults to a conscious and conscientious use of social media. These rules guide an individual’s use of social media. The collection of individuals creates a community that believes in respect for all persons; one that believes in fostering positive relationships with others by honoring their human dignity; one that believes in fact-checking stories before passing them along as truth; one that believes that each of us has biases and we need to be aware of the biases and attempt to balance our views; a community that believes it is important to learn from others with differing views and avoid inflammatory content; one that recommends balance in the use of social media to provide time for rest, silence and reflection.

A Message from Administration📋

This week is the official start of the Fall Season!

Autumn is characterized by shorter days, cooler temperatures, and falling leaves. We are all familiar with the leaves changing colors and falling to the ground, pumpkins are appearing, and squirrels are running around chaotically, finding and storing food. (I feel like I am dodging them as I drive down the road)

As we step into this season, we are reminded that this is a time of growth and gratitude.

Happy first week of Fall!  I look forward to stepping into this season together!

The progress report is provided to allow parents to monitor their student's academic performance.  It is an opportunity to evaluate the student's current position, reflect on the consequences of missing or late work, and spot opportunities for growth and improvement.  Parents can learn how to access the progress report at the SATG Parent/Student Tech Support Site

Book Fair is Coming!

The Scholastic Book Fair will be here October 1-7  for students and parents to enjoy!  This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again!

Here are a few things to remember:

     * Students may bring money to shop during their regular library class during this week or wait for their scheduled conference.  If your child doesn't shop during class, we can provide a wish list to write down choices

     * If JK-3rd grade bring in money to shop during class time, please put it in a labeled envelope/baggie with the student's name

     * If you are interested in e-wallet (digital payment account that allows your child(ren) to shop for books instead of using cash), please refer to the Scholastic Book Fair flyer that will be sent home in the Tuesday folder

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Viking's Saints and Virtues Program Continues

We are excited to continue our Saints and Virtues lessons this year, supporting both our Catholic faith and our students’ social and emotional development. Each month, we will focus on one saint and a virtue that they exemplified in their life.

Classroom teachers will introduce the saint, sharing their life story, accomplishments, and the path to sainthood. They will also teach students about the virtue the saint lived. Following this, our school counselors will visit each classroom once a month to explore how students can live out this virtue in their daily lives—at home, in school, and in the community.

Students who demonstrate the monthly virtue in the classroom, hallways, or playground will be recognized with our Viking Virtue Award, presented on the last Thursday of each month after our school mass.

Our first saint of the year is Saint Teresa of Calcutta, known around the world for her tireless work serving the poorest of the poor. She devoted her life to caring for the sick, the orphaned, and the dying, founding the Missionaries of Charity to continue this mission of love. Her life perfectly reflected our first virtue: Kindness—treating every person with compassion, respect, and love, no matter their circumstances.

Together, let’s follow her example and bring kindness into every part of our school community.

Multifactor Authentication is Coming to the FACTS Family Portal Soon!

Cybersecurity is a growing challenge for schools and their technology partners.  St. Albert the Great has taken several steps to reduce our cybersecurity risk, and FACTS will soon be taking a step to tighten the security of our SIS and Family Portal.  Specifically, FACTS will soon require users to use multifactor authentication in order to access the SIS (teachers and staff) or the Family Portal (families).

Users can sign up for multi-factor authentication using an authenticator app or an email, depending on their preference. FACTS recommends setting up using an authenticator app for increased security because apps don't send messages, like SMS or email, that someone could intercept. Any authenticator app will work, FACTS does not require or restrict specific ones.  There are several free options: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Aegis Authenticator. You will be prompted to set up MFA the first time you log in after it has been enabled for your school.  This is likely to be in the latter half of SEPTEMBER 2025. You can read more about this development at the SATG Parent/Student Tech Support Site.

Please note that students will not have to use MFA to access the Family Portal.

Guest Speaker for 5-8th Grades

On Tuesday, October 21st, former NBA player Wesley Fluellen will represent Sports World and speak with our students in 5th-8th grade. Every Sports World Pro will share his or her own personal life story. At the beginning of the program, they will share about their life and how they became a professional athlete. They share the ups and downs of their life and career with funny stories and real-life experiences. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Towards the end of their message, they share how they overcame obstacles and challenges in their life through their faith in God and his ability to help them overcome the problems of everyday life. (This portion of the talk will be approximately 2-3 minutes long.)

Our speakers share their story in the third person; they know what they can say and how they can say it in a public setting. They are professional, experienced speakers who desire to encourage students.

Thank you, Encore Wealth Management, for providing this opportunity to our students for the past few years.

St. Therese Novena Masses (9/22–10/1)

In partnership with the Parish, we kindly ask all teams to plan on attending the following three Novena Masses together. Teams are encouraged to sit together and wear their uniform or spirit wear, unless other directives are given for attire (i.e. 2nd grade student athletes preparing for First Communion).

To honor this special time, no practices should be scheduled between 4:00–6:30 PM on these dates:

•        Saturday, 9/27 – Weekend Mass

•        Wednesday, 10/1 – Feast Day Mass

For the other seven days, if your team has practice during mass time, please consider attending together. If practices or games are already scheduled during mass hours for the other seven dates, we kindly request families to park on the road to preserve campus parking for parish visitors.
