A Message from Administration
Welcome to our new families and welcome back to all of you who are returning to St. Albert the Great for the 2025-26 school year! We are excited to be here with your children for what we pray will be a year filled with excitement and academic growth.
Whether your child is returning or joining us for the first time, the start of school is always a time of new beginnings. As the school year begins, transitions can sometimes be challenging—especially for our younger learners. We are prepared to do all that we can to help our students adjust to school, and I’d like to share a few ways parents can ensure that their child transitions smoothly.
Talk about school positively. Children are like sponges, and if you focus on what is going well, they will too. Share your excitement about a new school year with them and ask them what they liked about the day when they get home.
Be patient. Children thrive on your support and reassurance. It’s normal for them to be tired or nervous the first few weeks of school.
Encourage independence. When children are given responsibilities, it will help build confidence. Confident children are less anxious.
If your child is struggling with the transition back to school beyond a few weeks, you may want to reach out to their teacher or the School Counselor (Loren Corbett: PreK-4 or Julie Kane grades 5-8)
We are honored to be part of your child’s educational journey, and we look forward to partnering with you to support your child’s academic and personal development.
If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Together, we can make this school year the best one yet!
Warmly,
Julie Kane
School Counselor
Dear Parents,
With gratitude and a touch of sadness, we share that Amy Baker will be leaving her role as our school secretary. Amy’s warm smile and caring spirit have been a daily blessing to our students, families, and staff. We look forward to seeing her visit — and perhaps serving as a substitute teacher from time to time.
We are also blessed to welcome Courtney Humston as our new school secretary. Many of you may remember Mrs. Humston, who was a 4th-grade teacher at St. Albert from 2019-2024. Courtney’s kindness and enthusiasm will be a gift to our community. She can be reached at chumston@stalbert.org. Amy and Courtney will be working together until August 20 to ensure a smooth transition.
Please join us in praying for God’s blessings on both Amy and Courtney as they begin this new chapter.
SCHOOL NEWS 🍎
🚗Transportation Change Reminders
For the safety of all students, please notify the school of any transportation changes — such as switching from bus to car rider, a different person picking up your child, or a bus route change — before 2:00 PM on the day of the change.
Contact the school office directly to share these changes. If there is an urgent or emergency change after 2:00 PM, please call 502-425-1804 rather than email, as staff may not see emails in time.
Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, smooth, and stress-free for everyone.
Spirit Wear Fridays
As a reminder, spirit wear days typically fall on Fridays with odd-numbered dates. However, since we have a Holy Day of Obligation Mass this Friday, August 15th, 1st-8th grade students should wear their regular uniforms tomorrow. Preschool, JK, and Kindergarten will not be attending Mass on Friday, so they are welcome to come in spirit wear. The definition of spirit wear can be found on page 42 of the Handbook.
Walkers and Bike Riders
If your child(ren) will be leaving campus anytime this school year as a walker or bike rider, please complete this form so the office has your permission and emergency contact information on file.
2026-2027 Applications for New Siblings
All current school families looking to enroll a new student for the 2026-2027 academic year will need to apply online, using FACTS, between August 15 to August 31, 2025. We will send an email to all current school families with the application link by August 15th. Please remember that applications submitted after August 31 will be considered late and will enter the general application pool, evaluated according to the priority criteria available on our website.

Viking's Saints and Virtues Program Continues
We are excited to continue our Saints and Virtues lessons this year, supporting both our Catholic faith and our students’ social and emotional development. Each month, we will focus on one saint and a virtue that they exemplified in their life.
Classroom teachers will introduce the saint, sharing their life story, accomplishments, and the path to sainthood. They will also teach students about the virtue the saint lived. Following this, our school counselors will visit each classroom once a month to explore how students can live out this virtue in their daily lives—at home, in school, and in the community.
Students who demonstrate the monthly virtue in the classroom, hallways, or playground will be recognized with our Viking Virtue Award, presented on the last Thursday of each month after our school mass.
Our first saint of the year is Saint Teresa of Calcutta, known around the world for her tireless work serving the poorest of the poor. She devoted her life to caring for the sick, the orphaned, and the dying, founding the Missionaries of Charity to continue this mission of love. Her life perfectly reflected our first virtue: Kindness—treating every person with compassion, respect, and love, no matter their circumstances.
Together, let’s follow her example and bring kindness into every part of our school community.
