Viking Monster Mile Walk-A-Thon- Next Friday, 10/24 12:30 Dismissal. Bring a lunch.
It was so nice to have our halls full of families last Monday and Tuesday evening for Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences. How lucky we are, to be able to show our students that we are ALL part of the same team and share the same objectives- to help them become their best selves. As you talk with your child about your conference and their goals moving forward, I wanted to share a few tips for promoting positive study and homework habits at home.
Establish a homework routine and provide a dedicated space for working. This will look different depending on your student’s needs. Maybe they need a snack and some play time before they begin. Maybe they need a place to sit and spread out their things. Some students can be more productive if they have space to move around or stand up while they work.
Remove distractions. It seems obvious, but our homes are bursting with technology and their diversions. The more we remove during study hours, the more our students can concentrate on the task at hand.
Encourage independent, self-learning. Of course we should guide, answer questions, and review their work, but the effort should come from our students. Knowing that their progress is the result of their hard work will be empowering for them.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fall break!

Learning Coordinator
Guest Speaker for 5-8th Grades
On Tuesday, October 21st, former NBA player Wesley Fluellen will represent Sports World and speak with our students in 5th-8th grade. Every Sports World Pro will share his or her own personal life story. At the beginning of the program, they will share about their life and how they became a professional athlete. They share the ups and downs of their life and career with funny stories and real-life experiences. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Towards the end of their message, they share how they overcame obstacles and challenges in their life through their faith in God and his ability to help them overcome the problems of everyday life.
Thank you, Encore Wealth Management, for providing this opportunity to our students for the past few years.
