FACTS Student Information System (SIS) generates several types of reports to keep you informed about your child's academic progress.
To help you distinguish between a "snapshot" and a "live look," here is a breakdown of the reports you will receive throughout the school year.
These are the formal records of your student’s achievement. Think of these as the "final destination" for a specific period.
Trimester Report Cards: Issued at the conclusion of each trimester, these provide a definitive look at the grades earned during that term.
Final Report Cards: Issued at the end of the school year, this document summarizes the full year’s academic journey.
Halfway through each trimester, we send out a Progress Report.
Note: This is a "snapshot" in time. It is designed to show you where your student stands at the midpoint so there are no surprises when the final report card arrives. It’s the perfect time to celebrate successes or adjust study habits.
Every week, you will receive a Gradebook Report. Unlike the report cards, which show a single final grade, these provide a detailed breakdown of how that grade is calculated. Most classes are weighted as follows:
Category Typical Weight Examples
Assessments & Projects 60% Unit tests, essays, long-term projects
Daily Work & Homework 40% Practice sets, worksheets, in-class participation
We know that "The dog ate my homework" is an old cliché, but missing work is a modern reality. Our system sends automated notifications if an assignment is marked Missing.
A Note on the "Missing" Status:
Because FACTS is a live system, an assignment may be marked "Missing" (and temporarily show a score of 0) simply because the due date has passed and the teacher has not yet entered the grade.
The Grace Period: Teachers often require a few days to grade and input data after an assignment;s due date.
Action Step: Before worrying, check with your student to see if the work was turned in. If the "Missing" status persists for more than a few days after the due date, it’s a good time to reach out to the teacher.
We hope this guide makes our reporting process clearer! Our goal is to provide you with the data you need to support your student’s growth effectively.
Parents (and 4th - 8th grade students) can check on current grades for core classes 24/7 via the FACTS SIS Family Portal. Here's how:
Sign in to the portal.
Click on Student in the vertical navigation bar located on the left of the page. The window will open in the Student Home page.
You will see a list of classes for the current trimester. You can toggle between the current trimester and a past trimester by clicking T1, T2, or T3 at the top of the page. A trimester will not be viewable until approximately one week after the start of that trimester. A numerical grade will appear for each core class. This is the CURRENT grade. Click on the numerical grade to open a Gradebook Report for that class to see details, including a listing of all assignments, assignment grades, and category grades.
