Summary of Our Project

The Muntinlupa City Council for the Protection of Children (MCCPC), a City Government body, is pioneering the future of youth. The Council was established in December 2002 by Ordinance 02 - 073, with the objective of promoting stronger deterrent and particular protection against child abuse, exploitation, and other penalties specified in the Ordinance. The council, made up of 9 representatives from the city's coast and other barangays, works to promote children's rights through the council's many main features of Protection, Participation, Development, and Survival. These delegates collaborate to develop and protect children's rights while also ensuring happiness in a child's grin throughout their lives. In line with this, our project seeks to highlight the efforts, programs, and other accomplishments that this council has prepared and implemented in order to align with the city's vision of becoming a city of well-educated, healthy, and God-loving people living peacefully in an ever-changing and resilient community.

Community Description

Muntinlupa City is a Highly Urbanized City (HUC) that is located in the south of Metro Manila, and is easily accessible from the provinces of Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, and all areas in Metro Manila. The city consists of two districts and nine barangays: Alabang, Ayala Alabang, Bayanan, Buli, Cupang, Poblacion, Putatan, Sucat, and Tunasan. Due to its urbanization and eco-friendliness, it was coined as the "Emerald City," which adhered to the city’s mission.

Along with the mission to participate in environmental protection and economic development, Muntinlupa also aims to protect every person, provide quality social services, and institutionalize community participation. In line with those, Muntinlupa has several departments and offices that help develop the city and its citizens, prioritizing children not only by creating organizations and projects catered towards them, but also allowing youth representatives to take action with the guidance of the city’s governors.

Our Computer / Internet Access

Our school has been provided with internet access for 20 years, and we utilized rooms with internet connection such as the school library and computer laboratory for working on our project. Aside from technology and facilities that were provided by our school, the team also made use of their respective devices and internet connection at home.

The team is divided into the designing team and the writing team in order to finish tasks efficiently, but each member was not limited to only doing the tasks of their assigned roles. We used social media platforms such as Messenger in order to communicate with each other during non-school hours but held our official meetings face to face at school. For all the information and documents our team needed, we created shared google drive folders and documents in order to collaborate and work on each segment of the project together.

Problems we had to Overcome

A recurring problem we experienced during the creation of our project is regarding the conflict of schedule of our team. Our members consist of students from different grade levels, making it difficult to hold meetings that everyone could attend, but we found a solution through utilizing a shared common time in which we don’t have any major subjects for our meeting schedules. Similar to the first problem we encountered, there was also a conflict in our meetings due to the amount of school events we had.

Despite the hectic schedule and events held by the school, our  team was able to finish assigned tasks and hold meetings through practicing task management, delegating tasks, and utilizing our time properly. Our last encountered problem was for the contact persons we needed in order to make our project possible. We needed to communicate with government officials, hold meetings, and ask for resources, and we managed to accomplish this through communicating with different departments by sending letters and having a lot of patience with the process. Despite all the  obstacles, our team continued to adjust and prioritize the project through constant communication and determination.

Our Project Sound Bite

In participating in the International Schools Cyberfair, our team discovered the programs our city has made for the protection and inclusion of Muntinlupeño children. Equipped with grit and growth mindset and through collaboration with the city government and school, we were able to build a sense of unity with our community and promote safety, protection, development, and participation for children in our city.

This participation served as a means for positive change within our community, exemplifying the power of collaboration, resilience, and a shared vision in fostering a brighter future for the children of Muntinlupa. Working together has paved the way for every child in our city to thrive and succeed.
