2023 NCM Theme: “Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the Right to Life for All!”
Sustained peace and order situation in Muntinlupa City – with its highly functional Peace and Order Council (POC) and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC); aiming for Muntinlupa to be a safe city for children
Reinforced safety and security protocols in schools, communities and villages through available force multipliers and police visibility; and functional hotlines for emergency and response for families and children
Continuous campaign for safe housing and for ensuring that children in Muntinlupa are provided with safe and resilient shelters, centers and environments through community drives done by UPAO and CADO, disaster preparedness seminars done in communities and schools, and resumption of Earthquake Drills and earthquake assessment activities of public and some private buildings; also Accessibility Audits;
Safe Spaces Ordinance o Bawal Bastos sa Muntinlupa – isang polisiya at programa natin kung saan nakasentro rin ang proteksyon sa mga kabataan na ating papaigtingin at papalakasin pa upang maiwasan ang iba’t ibang porma ng discrimination and gender-based violences towards children and communities surrounding them – ensuring that everyone, every child is safe, may it be in a public or private space
Capacity building and respite care for Foster Parents and Families for proper child-rearing and family unit-strengthening
Partnership building and close coordination with business sector such as hotels, motels, and commercial centers for Child Protection policy implementation and to ensure zero child labor and have surveillance accounts on online/ physical sexual abuse and exploitation of children
Timely updating and regular monitoring with regards to typhoon situations – conscientious cascading of reports and Early Warning System activities; warning messages with easy-to-understand protocols – to ensure protection of children and their families during typhoons and flooding through its functional Incident Command System (ICS), Incident Management Team (IMT) and highly functional DRRM OpCen
Sustained efforts in ensuring that evacuation areas are child-friendly (provision of modular tents, designated lactating room, play area, provision of nutritional supplements for infants and pregnant mothers temporarily housed in evacuation areas)
Mobile Learning Hub for Disaster Preparedness visited various schools to conduct Emergency Public Warning System (EWS) lectures for students. (visited schools: Muntinlupa Business High School-Sucat Annex; Muntinlupa Science High School; Lyceum Alabang, Colegio de Muntinlupa; and others)
24/7 operational residential, protective and medical facilities for protection of women and their children and other children in need of special protection i.e.,
SAGIP Center which provided direct psychosocial services for women and their children; including temporary shelter, psychological counseling, and other information/awareness drives for elimination of violence against girls and boys
Social Development Center (SDC) for all children in need of special protection
Bahay Pag-Asa (BPA) for juvenile diversion intervention and protection; with close coordination with Family Court for kid-friendly court sessions
Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) operations housed in PNP-Muntinlupa and with counterpart Aling Pulis designated in every Barangay
Women and Children’s Protection Unit (WCPU) operations in OsMun
Resumption and stronger implementation of Personal Safety Lessons (PSL) in schools in which children are informed on when they should say no and where they can report if they ever experience abuse
Various IEC activities among barangays, communities and key partners has been influential in the reach of the Sagip of Muntinlupa; furthermore, Interagency conferences and collaborations were beneficial in the improvement of the City’s program for Women & Children protection – which has made way for international partners to benchmark and partner with the city for further sustainable interventions for Women and Children
