Remove People from a Slack Workspace
Text Instructions
Single course Workspaces: Students are automatically removed from the Slack Workspace if they drop the class.
Combined or cross-listed course Slack Workspaces: The student can remove themselves or the instructor can manually remove them.
Students can remove themselves from a Slack workspace by selecting the Workspace title, hovering over Sign Out, and selecting Leave [Workspace Title]. If you don't see this option, then your instructor will need to remove you from the Workspace. If your instructor can't remove you, then please submit a Help Ticket.
Remove People from Your Slack Workspace
Open the Slack desktop or mobile app. If you have not downloaded the app for desktop or mobile, you may do so here: slack.com/downloads. Slack offers how-to guides to help you download the app on your computer or mobile device. View guides for Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, or Android.
Navigate to the Slack Workspace where you would like to remove specific individuals. If you have multiple Workspaces, you can identify which one you are currently in by the Workspace title in the upper left corner.
If you need to move to a different Workspace, select the Workspace title in the upper left corner and then scroll down to Switch workspaces. A list of all of your Workspaces will open the right. Select the appropriate Workspace to switch.
Once you are in the appropriate Workspace, select the Slack Workspace title in the upper left corner.
Select Settings and administration.
Select Manage members. Your current course Slack Workspace membership list will display.
Locate the member/guest you wish to remove and select the three dots to the right of their record. Select Deactivate Account. The account will appear greyed out in case the person needs to be re-added, but they are now removed from the workspace and all channels they were in.
Repeat as needed to remove additional members/guests.
