Assessment
Graphic Communication is suitable for learners with an interest in both digital and paper-based graphic communication.Â
Creative pupils who have an interest in design and computer-aided modelling succeed in the subject as Graphic Communication includes practical and creative learning opportunities. Â
Candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills, as the subject often involves analysing complex tasks and finding effective solutions. Ability in working with computers is essential, as much of the work involves using design software and digital tools. Creativity plays a key role in generating unique and impactful designs, while the ability to sketch by hand allows for effective communication of concepts. Those who enjoy combining technical precision with artistic expression will thrive in this dynamic and versatile subject.Â
In Graphics, pupils will learn how to replicate basic, familiar and some new graphic forms in 2D and 3D. They will initiate and produce simple preliminary, production and promotional graphics. Their visual literacy with increase by interpreting simple but unfamiliar graphic communications.Â
Pupils will use standard graphic communication equipment, software and materials effectively for simple tasks with some complex features.
Pupils will apply design skills, including creativity when developing solutions to graphics tasks. Their knowledge of a range of computer-aided graphics techniques and practices will increase as well as their knowledge of colour, illustration and presentation techniques.
Projects include; Poster, brochure and leaflet design, logos and branding, 3D Modelling and computer-generated renders, technical drawings and manual pictorial drawings.
