At National 4, learners must pass all of the required units which are marked internally. In addition, learners must complete the Added Value Unit.
For the Added Value Unit, the learner will be assessed by a practical administration and IT-based assignment drawing on the knowledge, understanding and skills developed across the course. It will require them to extend administration-related knowledge, understanding and skills and to apply them in the context of organising and supporting a small-scale event.

Higher Administration and IT examination involve both a theory paper (42%) and a practical assignment (58%)
Question paper (1 hour 30 minutes)
Section 1: Relate to a case study and include problem-solving and a sample of mandatory course content. (10 marks)
Section 2: Samples from the full range of mandatory course content (40 marks)
Practical Assignment (2 hours)
The practical assignment brings together all the practical skills learned throughout the course.
