The geoecologist Thomas Nehls, is the director of the "Center for Innovation and Science on Building Greening" of the TU Berlin and as such

he is interested in secondary urban greening and its impact on cycles of water, energy and nutrients in urban areas. In his soil-related research

he focuses on paved urban soils, urban soils and constructed soils / construction of soils which could serve as a base for urban greening measures.
