Anna Paltseva majored in Ecology and Nature Management at North Caucasus Federal University in her native Russia. After moving to the USA, she received a B.S. degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences from Brooklyn College. Anna is now on track to obtain a doctorate degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the CUNY Graduate Center with a concentration in geology. Since 2013, Anna has been working on the assessment of heavy metals bioavailability in urban soils. She lectures at Brooklyn College in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, the New York Botanical Garden, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden. She volunteers as an XRF-technician for community outreach programs and events educating people about soil contamination in urban gardens. Anna is a reviewer for the Journal of Environmental Quality and Journal of Soils and Sediments. She is also a Graduate Student Liaison at Urban and Anthropogenic Soils Division of the Soil Science Society of America. Currently, Anna serves as a program coordinator at NYC Urban Soil Institute developing educational materials, leading soil workshops, and coordinating collaborations with international researchers.
