Jessica Costa has a degree in Geography from the University of São Paulo (Brazil), a master's degree in Soil Science from the Federal University of Santa Maria (Brazil) and is currently a doctoral student in the Physical Geography at the University of São Paulo.

Since 2013 studying SUITMAs and his doctoral research project is about pedogenetic processes in soils randomly built over decades and which is currently used as a lazar area by the population of São Paulo, the largest Brazilian city. The focus of the research is to understand how degraded soil evolves over the years and how new peds are formed
