2025: GUMS! and Pearly Gates
2025: GUMS! and Pearly Gates
WHADS actors, young and old(er), yet again amused and entertained a wonderful audience, including many villagers.
GUMS! written by Richard Allsopp, was put together using inspiration from many quarters, including the ideas of the children involved. Then, weaving these strands into a story with his inimitable humour and local references, Richard created something unique and special. The young actors rose to the occasion, creating a wonderful production with energy, hilarity and enthusiasm. Well done! Thank you also to the parents whose support and help is very much appreciated.
The second half of the evening was Pearly Gates, written by Pippa Henry, set in a home for elderly residents. This play used characters from an actual old age home, to inspire characters and situations. The play was lifted by strong characterisation and convincing interaction by the cast who have to put themselves on the line, as well as learning them!
Both productions were only made possible by many people helping the production team with lighting and sound, make up, chaperones, refreshment makers, bar staff, safety stewards, people setting up and clearing away and the support of an appreciative audience. We are very lucky to have an amazing group of people who make up a great community here in the village.
THANK YOU to all of you and we hope to see you at the next production.
