Reminder: Field trip to Goldstream Park is on Monday, October 28th to learn about salmon. Your child needs rubber boots and a raincoat as we need to be dressed for any weather conditions. Please ensure your child has a small snack that will fit in their pocket (we will not have the capacity to carry lots of containers etc.)
Halloween: Students are invited to wear their costumes or wear orange and black to school on October 31st. Please note that masks and weapons are not allowed at school.
Shoes: If your child does not yet know how to tie their shoes independently, please take some time at home to teach them this important skill. By grade 1 this is something they should be able to do on their own as we are changing our shoes several times a day and loose laces are a safety concern. If this is not an option, velcro shoes are a good choice, as are clips that attach to the laces.
In early primary, we talk a LOT about problem solving conflicts as students learn to navigate their way through tricky situations on and off the playground.
At school, we use the WITS program consistently, and I coach the kids a lot with the 'talking out' part. One way we practice is using 'I messages' (see poster) to let others know how we are feeling.
