Pegs for Bars, Frame

There are several vendors that offer forward extension of boards / controls. Forget the bars if you want forward board / control relocation - use these instead.

Note: some say you can use the Lindy Bars with forward relocation.

Kuryakyn extended foot pegs for 1100 - Kuryakyn foot board covers - 5 inch board extensions

I took off my guards and used the above to give me leg room - attached to the front down tubes, extend past the shifter and brake pedals - plenty of room for me - with my 5 inch extension in place.

Note: V-Star 1100 down tubes measure 1-1/4' diameter

Mookie's Silver Bullet Mod - Make It Easier to Hook For Deployment -

See the silver round button head screw to the right of the kickstand? Originally there was nothing there. You need to look at the kickstand and

see where it hits that place. Take a magic marker and mark where it's touching. Take the bracket off or if you can do this while it's on the bike that will work too. You then drill a hole with a .201 drill bit, tap it 1/4 20 all the way through. Then you put a stainless steel button head screw 1/2 inch long in the hole. After the screw is in the hole you grind the button head of the screw until the kickstand stops at the place you desire. Make sure the screw is in the hole tight before you start grinding on it. :-)

Here's a pic of the screw from the side to show how thin mine is.

Hope this makes sense. If you can't figure it out you can take the directions to a mechanic and I'm sure he can do it for you.

From TJ (tj1100cl): -- you could probably get the same spacer effect by jb welding a washer in the same spot, or on the kickstand itself in the same contact spot.

Another Way to Kick it Out For Easier Grab with the Foot

The Simple Way

JollyRoger15: I simply put two washers between the kickstand block and the frame at the rearward bolt. It angled the stand out just enough to make it easy to put it down.

Passenger Peg/Boards

Passenger Peg/Board Relocation (updated 08/26/07)

Flip the stock brackets side to side:

From the Forum: - I took my stock mounts and swapped them side to side, you have to use a 1" spacer to move them out so they clear the boomerang but this moves them forward a couple inches easy. I had to do this so I can carry a passenger when I have the bags on.

Drill & Relocate:

SilverBack: Any peg or board that attaches to the stock passenger peg holes in the frame can be relocated down and forward - varying amounts depending on the peg/board and your pipes. Remove the peg/boards where they bolt to the frame and check to see if you have enough clearance - pipes and other body parts. Check by placing the mounts, with boards/pegs attached, on various points of the boomerang and check clearance - be sure to do both sides as the clearances vary and you do want the boards the same height on both sides.

If you get satisfactory relocation distance, and clear parts and pipes, then you can mark and drill two holes per side and use through bolts with washers, lock washers and nylox nuts to secure the mounts in the new location. Note, the boomerang appears to be solid cast metal, but it is in fact a formed, hollow piece, so you will drill through into the center and need to continue drilling out the other side.

I did this with a set of Barons Offset Pass. Boards - which by them selves gave some relief from stiff knees and long legs. I wanted my wife to have even more room, and used the above approach to move the boards down by almost 3 inches and about the same forward. I was able to use some chrome bolts that Barons had included with the original kit - they were for use on a roadie. Note: In the pix you can see the stock peg mounting bolts, behind the relocated boards.. See my setup in the pix below - click the pix for larger view.

Front Board Relocation

Forward Controls - Shorten

From 04Brain on the forum:

Well, thought I would post for anyone under 6 ft. tall. If you are over that, this post is probably useless..

One thing that I have always disliked about my bike (custom) was the factory foot controls. Forward controls look so much nicer but just don't fit me. I changed the pegs and shaved all the extra junk off of them but still no...

sooooo... I decided to take a set of forward controls and make them fit. You can't just move forward controls back, they have to be moved out as well. I made a set of 2" spacers (black) and a set of 5/8" spacers (chrome). I had a set of control extensions and just turned them backwards and used the spacers to move them out 2" from the frame and then the chrome spacers to move the forward controls out 5/8" from the reverse extensions to clear the bolts. You have to cut the shifter linkage and re tap it for it to work properly. That's about it. This moved the controls 2-3" forward from stock and about 2" higher. These are only 1/2" wider than my old controls with Kury pegs on.

The controls definitely look better way up there by the down tubes but this isn't bad considering. Just thought I'd share and maybe there's some other short guys that might be interested in this mod.

DIY Floor Board Relocation

To do it yourself, you will need to know:

From cruzmystar: Shifter side rod is 6mmx1 and brake side rod is 8mmx1.25. Also don't forget that the shifter side is right hand thread on one end and left hand thread on the other. Making your own extensions? it's pretty easy.
