This weeks research has really focused in on what people in Venice are doing while they are there. More specifically the tourists; what they are seeing there and why they are there. My research has turned up the top ten tourist attractions in Venice. What I found most interesting is that the majority of these attractions are in one part of the city, Saint Mark's Square. This will be really good to know when we start trying to count people. Knowing where they are most centrally located can help predict where they are going to be and or where they are going.
What I also found quite interesting was among the most popular tourist attractions were walking tours. People who are going to Venice are interested in taking walking tours of the city. Tourists don't necessarily want to see any particular site, they want to see them all. If we can acquire the routes theses companies take the tourists on we hopefully can greatly improve traffic in the city. If large tours are walking down narrow streets at specific times every day we can inform people, other tourists and Venetians' and they can make better decisions about their own travel.
