Pedestrian Tracking Methods and History

Post date: Sep 15, 2015 1:33:44 AM

This week I spent some time researching alternative methods of pedestrian tracking and found some intriguing ideas from robots to infrared sensors. While I understand that, due to budget constraints and an already existing camera network, cameras are our best option for widespread data collection I believe it is worth creating a decision matrix to demonstrate that fact.

I have also studied the history of Venice and some of its major buildings. Learning about the history of the Veneto region proved interesting because it explained the ancestral divide between Venetians and the rest of Italy. I also researched the history of specific buildings in Venice like the Doge's Palace and San Marco's Cathedral. While this information might not specifically contribute to our project, I believe a general knowledge and understanding of the place I am going will help give me cultural footing.

An unrelated question to work on in the future is if Venice could implement a toll on tourists in order to reduce congestion.
