fter these first few weeks over defining our project and determining its direction, the my group partners and I were able to narrow in our mission of the project. Yes, we want to find other purposes for the bell towers and put them in the public spotlight, but we cannot fully commit to that project because data is still missing data for over 40 towers. We have decided to put our focus into updating and continuing the inventory process of the bell towers as well as promoting the preservation of the them.
As the week progressed, we started to research individually about the background sections we chose. I have the task of looking into work completed by previous groups at the Venice Project Center, in addition to different types of historical restoration and preservation throughout the world. I am excited to work on the section of our paper because it will give me the opportunity to examine the different ways people have approach large scaled problems that are important to the communities involving them. In my research I was able to find various articles about repurposing of older buildings such as churches and even funeral homes.
Moving forward, we plan to have a detailed list of 15 sources, cited in APA, and a small out line of my background chapter to bring back to my team. Last week we had the opportunity to meet with our IQP librarian, Lynne Riley and I found that secession very helpful and informative. She was able to give us information on “how to research” and not to just depend on Google.
We hope to keep moving forward and have tangible deliverables by the end of the next week.
Best,
Kristin
