After completing our first ground surveys we wanted to confirm that our methods were returning accurate results. We compared our two height determination methods, one using trig and one using relative size and pixel counting for the Santi Cassiano tower. The trig method is outlined in the image, the pixel method involved taking a know measurement along the base of the tower and counting how many pixel in a photo it occupied and comparing that to how many pixel the entire tower occupied in the same photo. The trig method returned a height of 30 meter for the tower and the pixel method returned a height of 31 meters. These results are well within user error margin and confirm that the principles are correct.
