This past week we had the opportunity to visit the islands of Burano and Murano to survey 4 bell towers in total! The bell towers that we visited on Burano were Chiesa di San Martino Vescovo and Carterina Vergine Martire. The bell towers that we visited on Murano were Chiesa dei Santi Maria Assunta, Donato Martire e Cipriano Vescovo e Martire and Chiesa Arcipretale Di S. Pietro Martire Sec. XIV.
At this point we have ascended 14 bell towers and that number is still growing! We have become much more efficient in the time it takes to complete a full bell tower analysis. When we first started out doing the internal surveying it took us close to 3 hours to complete a single bell tower. Now we can do two bell towers in a row in under 2! The reason for this is because in our first bell tower documentation everybody was present for each data field that needed to be collected within the master spreadsheet. Now we have assigned each person about 25 data fields that we are individually responsible for completing and this is definitely the reason why we have become much more efficient.
With December approaching we are getting close to wrapping up our bell tower surveying and strictly focusing on publicizing our collected data through the Venice Bells website, venicebells.com, and the VPC bells website, bells.veniceprojectcenter.com and further developing our final presentation. We have already done so much data collection and now it is time to process everything!
