Popcorn Sale!!

Post date: Sep 28, 2011 12:5:19 PM

Please read all of the information below before e-mailing questions, I have attempted to cover everything that you need to know.

Each boy is responsible for selling $200 worth of popcorn. That can be in the form of a check from the parents, take orders – the order form, or show & sell at Ralph’s, Best Buy and Bristol Farms. It makes no difference how the $200 is achieved as long as it’s at least $200. (For those of you with 2 boys in the troop, the amount for both is 150% of the single boy or $300.)

If your son sells over $200, then he will get money banked in the troop account for camp or other future outings. As the troop receives 40% of the amount sold, if your son sells $500 worth of popcorn, he would have $120 banked in the troop checking account. 500 – 200 = 300. 40% of 300 = 120.

We are not handing out cash to the boys; the money stays in the troop account until used by the scout for Troop 266 outings only. Any unused funds when a scout leaves the Troop stays in the troop account.

If your son sells under $200, you need to make up the difference. i.e. If your son sells $180 worth of popcorn at show & sell, you need to make up the $20 difference.

Attahed are the schedules for the three locations as well as maps to each location and to Milton’s house. Also included are the manager’s names for each location. If you sell at Best Buy, you must have the insurance paperwork with you – we will hand it out when you pick up your popcorn.

Please be sure to arrive a few minutes early at the show & sell location so you can send the boys to find the manager, thank him for the opportunity and request a broom and dust pan to police the selling area before and after they sell.

Parents should be nearby but out of sight when you are at the show & sell location.

Any show & sell location must have at least two boys but no more than 4. There are openings for show & sell opportunities still available.

If you want to add or remove a scout to a location please let me know by e-mail as soon as possible. If you are one of the first shifts at any location, you must work out who is going to Milton’s house to pick up popcorn. The first pick up will be from 7-8 a.m. this Saturday.

If you have the second shift of any day / location, you will get your popcorn from the first shift and will be responsible for getting the popcorn back to Milton’s house at the end of the day. All items accounted for on the inventory sheets will be counted individually as units not as cases.

There will be an envelope with change for the first shift at each location each day. You will keep the money made from your shift and turn it back in with the inventory / hours worked form. You will give the second shift an envelope with the starting change in it.

At the troop meeting on October 18th, we will fill as many take orders as we can from the remaining show & sell order inventory. Your take order forms are due the same night. We will be able to pick up inventory to fill the remaining take orders on November 5th.
