It's dawn, and they party decides that, if there are frost giants out here in the wilds, that it's worth finding them and trying to talk to them. They depart Agvar and search for the trail...and it is REALLY easy to find. They track them back to their...."camp". It's a few clusters of large pine trees tied together at the top to make a bare shelter from wind and rain. It's a midden heap of bones and goods stolen from Agvar that couldn't be easily used. It's a cold fireplace of large stones and a pile of damp wood. They only build a fire to cook meat, and there has been little enough of that.
The party isn't seen by the giants, and decide they want to bring an offering of sustenance to the giants. They track down a small herd of 4 mammoths. Avi psychic crushes one. Brent polymorphs one into a fainting goat. Bastion banishes one. Somon throws Masio, fastball special style, onto the remaining mammoth. He then charges and gets immediately trampled, but manages to grab a leg and take the mammoth down. Cornelius summons Zephyr, an air elemental, who bashes the mammoth. After a few moments, all the mammoths are defeated. The party harvests their pelts and meat, and drag a quarter of the mammoth to give to the old frost giants.
Somon wrestles the Frost Giant trio leader, and the ancient one agrees to listen to him after Somon wins. They are the last 3 giants. The ancient city of the frost giants is beyond the storm. The group thinks that some sort of peace should be brokered between the people of Agvar, and the 3 giants. The group convinces them that they can free up the labor of the people of Agvar by clearing the huge tunnels of Giham, and they will be impressed and offer tribute with their new amounts of free time.
The giants accept. The Brint pitches the idea to the people of Agvar, saying since they're already hunting for the giants, better to formalize it and get something useful out of the deal. The humans will have to couch the offerings in a way that plays to the giant's pride and sense of worth, but the humans agree. Brint also gives them some tips on how to hunt the local mammoths, which if they are picked off 1 by 1 and husbanded with care, support the giants and humans as they establish themselves.
The party approaches the storm. It's massive, and perfect. Above them, Bastion notices....something. The Captain flies up there and sees...a city, a structure, an enormous device. He casts flight on Somon, and they all fly up together to the great ring. They find towers full of technology they don't understand that harnesses electricity that somehow contains the great storm, and the Frost Giants below.
The party travels to the innermost part of the city. Brint tries to communicate with the servitors, who appear to be once-living humanoids whose bodies have been replaced a bit at a time until they are nothing but mummified flesh and machine parts, doing nothing but maintaining the great containment ring, the city of Miraa.
In the center of the city we found the ArchServitor, designated 00001. It demanded identification marking, and once Bastion figured that this was the work of the Brother Gods, he drew the symbol of the dieties, and gained command access to the ArchServitor, which is probably for the best, as Somon was a hair's breadth away from commanding the containment to be breached and the storm released onto the world once more.
The party flew down to the city below, a collection of enormous but abandoned Frost Giant long houses. Casting a magic shelter spell, the party rested, only to awaken to the sight of an ancient white snake dragon having snuck up on them and surrounded them. The wyrm's name was Irh'lah, and it demanded they free it from the storm, where it has been contained for centuries, preying on the frost giants. It offered them to be their ally if they would free them. The party convinced the wyrm to let them go to the giants temple, where there might be information about how to break the storm or the device containing the storm.
The party approached the temple, and were brought before Ur'Dan the chief. Somon challenged him to a wrestling match, and immediately lost a round. Then reversed position, and then they were both hit by a lightening bolt from Brint's new rubix cube of wonder.
The party barely prevented a full on battle, but convinced the chief to at least hear them out and show them their records of stories and runes.
The party hatched a mad plan. With Massio's alchemy, and the sacrificed blood of two of the most ancient giants, Somon would descend into the depths of his ancestral visions, into the mind of Atali, the Shaman Queen who created the storm. Avi would maintain a psionic connection and recite to Brint and Cornelius all the information, chants, and runes from the great casting. The two of them would craft a reverse ritual that could be chanted by many voices and carved with many runes, and Bastion would take this to the ArchServitor in Maraa and order all servitors to carve the Kalt Rune on all surfaces and to speak the reverse ritual chant.
With thousands of voices speaking as one, and a thousand runes carved into Miraa, the storm was broken. Ice covered Miraa, the wyrm escaped into the world, and the Frost Giants were free.
And, Atali the Shaman Queen re-awoke in Somon's mind and body.
