Trammel is a city of thieves where backstabbing, conniving, and other generally reprehensible traits are valued highly. The city itself lies within the skull of Rannoc, Twin of Darkness. The skull is embroiled in a perpetual storm left over from the spell I'noc laid upon him before dying. Due to the storm, much of the world does not realize Trammel exists. Those who involve themselves in the criminal underworld will likely have dealt with some citizens of Trammel in their time. The isolated nature of the city has lead to high concentrations of Godsblood in the more powerful families, and many believe the upper echelons of Trammellian society have been consorting with the Empire to hand over the city itself in exchange for power in the Citadel.
Trammel’s ruling house, the Vertolli family, has been in contact with their imperial allies. The Empire is still disappointed in their failure to secure Avi after Somon’s death. They have begun experimenting with powerful magic, intent on finding a way to remove Trammel’s eternal storm.
Vertolli mages utilized an ancient Avari ritual, sacrificing the Godsblood of an entire house, in order to finally dispel the eternal storm around Rannoc’s skull. With Trammel open, the Vertolli family has climbed to the top of the hierarchy in the city, and plans to soon unveil their direct Imperial support.
The Imperial-Vertolli alliance has become official, and Trammel is attracting the attention of the world.
