Recipe for Plain Scones
Ingredients
200g SR Flour
50g Butter/Marg
Pinch of salt
125ml Milk
1 egg (Optional)
50g Cheese
1tspn Mustard powder
Method
1, Pre-heat oven to 230 C, Lightly grease baking tray
2, Sieve Flour & Salt into mixing bowl
3, Rub in the fat using fingertips
4, Stir in the optional ingredients
5, Beat Egg in a mixing jug
6, Using a dinner knife cut the egg into the dry ingredients, then add the milk a bit at a time until it becomes a light dough.
7, Lightly flour the table.
8, Roll out to 2cm thick.
9, Cut out scones using a 5cm cutter, place on the baking tray, paint with milk and dress with spare cheese..
10, Bake for approx. 10mins. Scones should be golden and well risen.
Optional
At home replace the cheese and mustard powder for
for Plain Sweet
Add 25g Sugar
or for Fruit
Add 25g Sugar + 50g Dried Fruit
