Achievements:

• On Jan 26th the  #3 Striker Sports Team competed at the Silver Wing Competition in Dorchester. Eight teams competed in volleyball, basketball, floor hockey and tug-of-war. #3 Sqn came in FIRST in the Tug-O-War and were tied for 3rd in Volleyball and tied for 3rd Overall.

• On March 18th the Air Cadet League of Canada, Ontario, Zone 7 Effective Speaking Competition was held at the Lambeth Legion. #3 Squadron's FCpl R Mather came in 4th place with her topic 'My Greatest Air Cadet Achievement'. Well Done Flight Corporal!

• On Apr 21st the  #3 Striker Biathlon Team competed at the Lord Elgin Run and Shoot, at Peace Keeper Park, near Avon ON, on the south end of Lake Whittaker Conservation Area.  Sgt. V. Vander Velden came in 1st in the senior girls and FCpl. R Mather placed third in the junior girls event.

• #3 Striker is proud to announce that two cadets have received Glider flying scholarships from the Air Cadet League of Canada in conjunction with the Department of National Defence.  Sgt. M. Dejong and Sgt. R. Dewsnap will be undertaking intensive training this summer while they learn how to navigate, operate and fly solo in their aircrafts. They will be attending the CRGS Glider Pilot Training Course this summer and may graduate with their Glider Pilot License. Also this summer, Sgt. N. Bell will receive the Advanced Aerospace scholarship and Sgt. N. Redfearn-Smith the Oshkosh trip.

• Central Region Cadet Orienteering Competition. Congratulation to the 3 Striker Orienteering (O Comp) team. They went to competition on Sept 24th and they did very well for the Squadron's first time at O Comp. Great Job! The team consists of F/Cpl Miranda DeJong, F/Cpl Rebecca Mather, F/Sgt Felicity Radan, Cpl Aaron Babcock, F/Cpl Ronald Dewsnap and LAC Kurtis Dooreleyers. They competed at the Annual WOA (Western Ontario Area) Tri-Service Orienteering Championships held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Dryden Tract, Cambridge. WOA Zone Band Competition:

As #3 Striker Squadron’s fourth year participating in a band program, this is our first year participating in a competition. We have 18 band members under the guidance of OCdt De Jong and Lt. Redfearn-Smith. We were extremely glad to welcome CI Lamoureux, who helped us to reach our potential throughout the year. We participated in the WOA Band and Drill Competition which was held on May 14 and 15 in London [at the University of Western Ontario]. We were nervous performing and being judged, but after we were done we were left to enjoy a movie and dance at night. This weekend gave us the chance to meet other cadets from different squadron well as catching up with friends we hadn’t seen since the summer. 

We should all be extremely proud of our accomplishment at the competition as we worked hard and were complimented on playing so well for our very first go!!!  WAY TO GO!!!!
