W14: Visual Prototype Gallery Walk and Feedback

Welcome to TECH 120. This is a 3 credit hour course and meets for 2 hours and 50 minutes weekly. The syllabus describes the course:

Students in this course will engage in critical analysis of real-world problems and global challenges. They will demonstrate the ability to recognize opportunity and to take initiative in developing solutions applying the principles of human-centered design. Students will be able to communicate effectively and to work well on teams. Problems and solutions will be examined from societal, cultural, and ethical perspectives.

Objectives

The objective of this session is to:

  • Conduct a visual prototype gallery walk
  • Obtain feedback that will strengthen final design and prototype
  • Review the final presentation rubric

In this section, we focus on the Evaluation and Communication phases of the Design Process (see image below)

Gallery Walk

The instructor will host a thirty minute gallery walk:

  • Each team will set up a table with their prototype
  • Each team will present their prototype
  • Teams will rotate around the prototypes and provide feedback on sticky notes that answer questions about the concept such as:
    • What works well
    • What needs work
    • What needs to be addressed during the final presentation
    • Any other positive feedback that will strengthen both the design and presentation
  • Teams will use feedback to complete homework assignment

Homework

  • Prepare for final project presentations
  • Submit W14: Visual Prototype Feedback collected during gallery walk (100 points)
    • Groups will submit a PDF document (10 points) that contains:
      • Include 20 items of feedback in a numbered list. (40 points)
      • Include two images of the visual prototype (50 points)
