This week serves as an introductory session to the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW). It is important to note that the two are not synonymous and the terms are often, incorrectly, used interchangeably. As you will discover from this lecture, the Internet (always capitalized when referred to as a noun) is the hardware and network infrastructure that various services (e-mail, file transfer protocol, voice over internet protocol, etc) utilize. The WWW is the collection of hypertext (links) documents that reside on global interconnected servers.
The presentation below is a lecture guide. When viewing the presentation in full-screen mode, activate the Speaker Notes to view additional information.
