2014 Pongal Celebration and Kolam Competition (பொங்கல் விழாவும் கோலப் போட்டியும்)

This year we celebrated the 2014 Pongal Vizha and Kolam Competition at Alumni Village's Recreation Hall, Tallahassee, Florida 32304, USA on Saturday, January 18, 2014 between 6:00 and 9:45 PM. This will be our last year at this location as this location will no longer be available due to closing of this facility. This year we continued the tradition of doing in-door kolam drawings but we did the Kolam on table-top rather than on the floor since many found it convenient to draw it on the table. First, we affixed black plastic table-cloths to the round tables (about six in number). This year we had five adult teams and one children's team began to draw and paint the kolam with white and colored powders. Kolams were judged by three independent people and prizes awarded to first, second, and participation prizes.

Bhanu and Mani Priya's team won the second prize. We also collected money for future programs. Sasi and Vasu family brought some sugar cane for the Festival.
