12th Annual Cultural Glimpses of India

India Association of Tallahassee (www.iatlh.org) which is devoted to promoting the cultural, social, and educational activities of people from the Indian sub-continent celebrated its 12^th annual cultural extravaganza called Glimpses of India on Saturday, November 14, 2009 between 5 and 9 PM at the Chiles High School Auditorium, Tallahassee, FL. The event attracted around thousand people from Leon county and surrounding areas.

Children and adults dressed in brilliantly colored Indian costumes performed various dance numbers from movie songs and Indian classical music. Our group performed a musical skit from Tamil movie called 'Bharatha Vilas (பாரத விலாஸ்)’. The skit was recreation of the song 'India Naadu En Veedu (இந்திய நாடு என் வீடு)’ with children from age 4-14 portrayed people from various states of India living together in a place called Bharath Vilas.

VTS also took part in another program called 'Famous Children of India' where he was the Punjab Lion 'Bhagat Singh'. We had requested a local family to tie the turban for VTS and it turned out very well. Despite some sound (audio) problems the children did a good job during the item.
