When:

What: Client required a fix to its Storage Area Network (SAN), increase capacity and processing power.
The Challenge: Client's existing mid-range information SAN provided substandard performance and was causing errors in production processing. Significant time troubleshooting didn’t produce any root cause and work around steps were put into place to maintain production processing.
The Solution: Created long term storage strategy that included replacing mid-range Clariion storage array with enterprise class Symmetrix storage array. Worked out arrangements for deep discount on new array which included trade in of existing sub-performing array. Deal included a full forensics analysis of Clariion in vendor labs. Architecture was improved on new SAN to include an improved approach to storage tiers.
The Result: New array was installed with data migration and minimum impact to production. Storage capacity increased 50% percent with a 30% improvement in performance. The decommissioned array was sent back to vendor MC for analysis where it was determined to have failing electronic components.
