What: Clients' existing storage systems located on the east and west coasts were nearing the end of life, requiring an upgrade.
The Challenge: Clients' storage systems on the east and west coasts were not meeting business needs. Improved transaction times were necessary to assist sales staff at call centers for improved customer satisfaction. Additional storage replication for disaster recovery was needed to meet business impact requirements should a disaster occur.
The Solution: After completing analysis of various offerings, the solution was selected, and an implementation plan was developed to include replacing existing storage area networks (SANs) on both coasts. The new hardware-based storage included solid state drives, an auto-tiering capability, hardware-based replication, and migration of all data from the existing SANs. One of the replaced SAN was then reallocated for research and development.
The Result: Both arrays were replaced, and all data was migrated without disruption of services to the end users. The replacement of the existing hardware increased flexibility, improved expandability and provided the capability to acquire future upgrades at lowered costs. Implementation was delivered on time 10% under the projected budget.
