When: January 1995

What: NSHS' Learning Resource Center was not being use to its full potential due to legacy technology including no access to the Internet.

The Challenge: A computer resource center was underused thereby not contributing to productivity of student body. Since it was comprised of legacy computers, patchwork cabling, and lacked configuration to support updated software, it was effectively empty and unused facility space.

The Solution: Created a separate Active Directory student domain to support logical separation of the LRC. Re-cabled entire facility and redirected fair share portion of all department budgets to purchase updated computers supported by Internet and Computer-Based Training capabilities.

The Result: The new facility was used by all departments through a shared schedule which reduce pressure on individual departments that didn’t have the extra space needed to provide additional training activities.
