C. Resource Allocation
1. Demonstrate an understanding of special education program development including needs assessment, design and evaluation;
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the resources available, along with the agencies and organizations that serve students with a disability and their families.
Reflection: Resource Allocation is a strength, over the years I have spent a lot of time with needs assessment for students, programs, and service delivery models and working with families to access resources and supports. This past year we have worked on a plan to improve our service delivery for students by keeping students in the classroom for all core instruction and working with classroom teachers on individualized supports they can provide in the classroom to increase student success and independence rather than providing pull out for core instruction. Students who require pull out supports will receive their service during WIN time. We have worked on improving our special education paraprofessional services to focus on consistent support for students and moved away from 1:1 or 1:2 support. As a special education teacher, and previously a Family Facilitator, I have worked closely with public health, social services, law enforcement, mental health providers, medical doctors, PACER, food shelves, and many other organizations that support students and families.
