Communication
Reflection: I strongly believe communication is important for positive school climate and community engagement. School leaders have a responsibility to keep stake holders informed on work being done, progress, needs, student outcomes, budget and finances, and progression toward the school vision. School leaders must have effect external and internal communication skills, be able to plan, facilitate, and problem solve meetings, trainings, and discussions with staff, students, families, community, and school boards, talk to the media, and collaborate with peers.
I have had the opportunity to communicate with our district stakeholders through the media, presenting at school board meetings, district and school staff meetings, community events, parent meetings, assemblies, flyers, newsletters, e-mail, seesaw, remind, phone, in person, and social media.
1. McGregor School hosted Terrence Talley for a full day of student presentations; K-2, 3-6, and 7-12 plus hosted an evening family and community meal and presentation. This is the write up that I sent for the school newsletter.
11/17/2018 - McGregor schools hosted a full day of presentations by Terrence Talley and the band Yam Haus. They shared an emotional and powerful message about reaching out and making connections between students, staff, family, and our community. At each student grade level they reminded us that we can all make a difference, we can all be superheroes, we should never give up, and we are all cared about. Staff and families were fully engaged and willing to bravely go on stage and face their fears in order to connect with their students and children. All four of the presentations ended with personal connections and hugs between adults and children. McGregor Schools is excited to carry his message throughout this school year and beyond.
