Diversity and Leadership
Reflection: I believe we need to look at educating the whole child, it is important to help every student, staff, parent, and the overall community feel connected to and supported by the school. I believe schools must be representative of the cultures around them as well as prepare students to succeed in a globally expanding and diverse employment field. We need to prepare children for success in the constantly evolving world around us.
During my practicums I was able to participate in the Indian Education Committee, collaborate with the MilleLacs Band of Ojibwe home visiting program and early education for special education referrals, services, and family supports, work with the Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) to develop behavior and academic interventions for at risk students, Child Study Team (CST) for special education services, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team for MTSS supports, and the Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) Team to increase cultural awareness and authentic representation in our school.
