B. Monitor Student Learning
Reflection: I feel the competency B. Monitor Student Learning, is an area of strength for me. I believe building a community of learners where students are held accountable with restorative measures is important.
I wrote the grant application for our Elementary to become a PBIS school and have co-coached our team with our ADSIS teacher for many years. Through our PBIS team we have focused on creating a community of learners, analyzed behavior data, worked on positive behavior management, created common expectations, and led assemblies for students. Our PBIS, CSI, and WBWF teams completed climate surveys with students, families, and staff and shared the information with administration and the school board. Our PBIS team completes regular behavior data analysis using School Wide Informattion System (SWIS) to determine where supports need to be put in place or to determine if a specific student needs additional interventions. I was able to provide Restorative Practice (RP) tools for classroom staff to work with students on repairing their choices or behavior may have caused with the goal of improving behavior outcomes with students and building relationships and community.
This year I had the opportunity to work on the elementary master schedule with our Administrator and CSI team members to allow for shared district wide staff needs and to include minimum core instruction times, What I Need (WIN) time, and common prep time for grade level collaboration and PLC’s.
