Human Resource Management
Reflection: Through my practicum work I have had the opportunity to participate in interviews of special education applicants, which I have also previously done in my role as a special education teacher. As I have sought an administrator’s position I have become very familiar with the recruitment process and posting locations for educational staff. Over the past few years I have the opportunity to guide the scheduling and work of paraprofessionals, lead team meetings, and provide trainings. I created a paraprofessional hand book using resources from our special education cooperative, human resources, MN Department of Education, and from information I have gathered and created. In a previous position as a Center Director I was responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, budgeting for, and evaluating staff. Once I am an administrator I will be directly responsible to supervise and evaluate staff, review contracts and participate in negotiations.
