Abstract

The study used tools of GIS and remotely sensed enhanced multi-spectral data of Digital Elevation Model (DEM,), Landsat ETM+ digital Image and aerial photos. The aim is to generate hydrologic mops for basin morphometric properties to evaluate parameters (Indices,) in UdiAwgwu Cuesta in Enugu, South Eastern Nigeria. The analysis was carried out using digitized hydrological maps geo referenced using 4 points )resampled and merged) and the sub mqpof the study area extracted and incorporated into the GIS spatial data base. Arc GIS and Arc Hydra Wizard softwares were used for morphometric data analysis in a GIS environment. The interpreted images were superimposed to create appropriate information platform to determining the morphometric properties and parameters using generated hydrological maps for analysis, interpretation and classification at sub basins level using water divided concept. The mapping of the drainage networks was followed by ground frothing for confirmation with field observations during pre and post interpretative phases interpretative elements colour, lone, shape, pattern, shadow, site and association. The data obtained with various enhancement methods through digital analysis conformed to the morphometric laws especially Horton’s Law of drainage composition (Stream numbers, Stream Length and Stream slope) and others such as basin area, basin relief and contributing areas. The increased networks observed in the enhanced data evaluated for ETM and DEM is due to higher resolutions. Generally there is the major implications of the entire properties and parameters are represented. Six factors reduced ranked variables as follows: The basin circularity (RC) values of 0.62- 0.74 approaches one (1) tend to indicate basin pear shape with geological and hydrological tendencies of the uniform infiltration which does not overflow, as it takes long time for excess water to reach the basin outlet. The relief of 750m indicates high gravity water flow, high erosion tendencies, high infiltration arid high run-off conditions while the drainage density (Dd) between 0.85 and 0.95 depicts high permeable subsurface under sparse vegetation cover arid of medium relief subject to high erosion. The low values (0.52-0.62) of the bifurcation ratio (Rb) indicates low structural complexity and high permeability subsurface with attendant subsurface erosion. Cumulative stream length (between 830-1019.6 from is indicative of fairly low value that characterized medium relief permeable bedrock and low structural disturbance depicting absence of geologic influence in the area. The various landforms associated with fluvial processes in the upland area ridgevalue, undulating plateau, hills and gullies with rough to smooth rounded tops while in the lowland area are found sedimentary veneers ‘weathered, eroded loose earth materials) transported downwards and are responsible for the developments of fluvial deposits of rolling plains, foot slopes, narrow volleys and main valley floor at the end of erosional plain.

Abstract

The Kawere conglomerates of the Tarkwaian Group at Wassa Agona and Bogrekrom near Tarkwa consist of massive clast supported conglomerates interbedded with sandstone. The pebbles in the conglomerates are sub-rounded to angular with sizes ranging from 10 mm to 150 mm in diameter. Large pebble sizes coupled with low roundness indicate low energy of the medium of transportation and short transport distance from the source Birimian rocks. These pebbles trend northeast-southwest and plunge gently to the west; possiblydue to transportation from the east.

Abstract

The present paper is an attempt to evaluate spatial analysis of female educational status of Western Uttar Pradesh. Three main components of paper are: spatial distribution of female population in different educational levels, second to deal with the changes in regional distribution of female population in different educational levels and third deals with the effect of location and size in educational level of female population. Work is mainly based on secondary data and main technique applied is Location quotient, average etc, Female literacy has improved a lot, not only female literate population has increased but interest of female education towards other educational level has also increased but less interest is seen towards the higher education.
