Notable Occurrences

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, California went into a form of lockdown (Governor Newsom's "Safer at Home" order). This order was announced Thursday, March 19 2020 and went into effect the following day, so the last in-person showings we held this year were on the weekend of Friday the 13th (our notes from that Friday are "we started a whole episode late, mostly due to discussion about working from home related to the whole COVID-19 coronavirus. As a result, we didn’t end up watching Null & Peta this week, and we only watched 2 episodes of Seven Deadly Sins.") We continued to hold showings online, via a Discord server we set up (based on Steve's advice). Gene didn't care to spend even more time on his computer, so in practice the last showings he attended was that Friday, March 13 2020.

Because the pandemic and various forms of lockdown continued well into 2021, there were no local in-person conventions this year after Anime Los Angeles and very few other distractions. This led us to continue having showings even on many weekends we otherwise wouldn't have.

The only time we saw each other in person this year was for a few hours in July, as a small going-away gathering for Steve before he moved out to North Carolina.
