Last night, I participated in a play at K.E.Y.S. called Unplugged by Laurie Bryant. The play was about unplugging from electronics and starting new relationships. In the play, there was a small town called, “The Most Wired Town In America”, and the town was located in North Creek, Wisconsin. It was called that because the people were so plugged into their devises that no one talked anymore. The devices they were using were from a company called Solo Tech. The company came to the small town and offered a thirty-day challenge to see how they would react without their devices. If they succeeded their town would receive 30 million dollars. The leader of the company was Tom Morris, who came in disguise as Tom Williams, so that no one would know who he was. The people struggled without their devises for several days. Many complained, but soon they began to talk to each other and build relationships. They were successful in this challenge and learned the benefits of unplugging. I learned that we shouldn’t always be plugged into our devises, ignoring those around us, but we should be unplugged to learn new things and ideas, and to spend time and communicate with family and friends.
